Kagulu Rock

Kagulu Rock

Also known as Kagulu rock, Kagulu hill is situated in Bugabula sub-county in Buyende district. The nearest main town to the hill is Kamuli which is located about 42 kilometers from the hill. The hill lies in the northern direction of Jinja which is the largest city in the region – the Busoga region in eastern Uganda. From Kampala to Kagulu hill, it takes about 4 hours by road. Kagulu hill rises to about 3500 feet above the sea level. It is steep and quite challenging but this whole experience is very interesting. It takes about one hour to climb to the top of the hill and offers breathtaking views of many areas that are close and at a distance. One side of it has steps to enable you climb with ease compared to areas without steps, you however need not think that is a walk over to climb using the steps because it will also require some good energy. When you climb to the top of the hill, you will be showed the stones that are said to have been royal seats where kings sat when they visited this region and Kagulu rock.

Source of the Nile

River Nile is well known to be the longest river in the world. Its source starts right from Jinja Uganda, some people may be wondering how the name Nile come about. It’s a famous Greek word simply meaning valley. The river starts from the Northeastern part of Africa. It flows from the surrounding areas close to the equator to the outrageous Safari desert and up to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The river is about 6696km long and pours its water to over nine countries although it’s more centered to Uganda as well as Egypt.

Bishop James Hannington Shrine

Bishop James Hannington Shrine

Located in Kyando Village, Mayuge District, the shrine which sits on 220 acres, is believed to be the spot where Bishop James Hannington and 48 of his African helpers were murdered on October 29, 1885. The Bishop Hannington Memorial Site, which is also believed to be the spot of the first and largest Christian martyrdom in Uganda, was unveiled last Monday as another tourist site in Busoga sub-region. According to local authorities, Mayuge District stands to earn about Shs500m annually from religious tourism at the Bishop James Hannington shrine.

BUSOGA ROYAL WEDDING

A Busoga Royal Wedding is a wedding ceremony where the Kyabazinga of Busoga officially weds the Inhebantu of Busoga. It is a celebration for the entire Busoga Kingdom.Before William Gabula and Jovia Mutesi's Busoga Royal wedding, the previous one was held in 1956.[4] Jovia Mutesi was announced as the Inhebantu of Busonga on the 7 September 2023 at the Busoga Headquarters in Bugembe by Joseph Muvawala as he held her portrait in his hands.
